Effects of triglyceride monohydroperoxides on the growth of E. coli.

چکیده
Many experiments (1-4) have been done on the effect of autoxidized products of lipids on living animals, cells, enzymes and biological active substances. How ever, crude materials such as autoxidized TG or LA have, been used without further purification in most such experiments. In a previous paper (5), we report ed the effect of pure LAHPO on the growth of E. coll. LA can be used as a model substance for TG in studies concerns with the oxidation mechanism. Considerable difference can not be expected between TG and LA oxidation mechanism. How ever, there are some differences in their molecular structures and sizes. Recently, we prepared TG hydroperoxides (6, 7) from oxidized safflower oil and chrac terized their properties. In the present investigation we have attempted to examine the toxic effect of TG hydroperoxides on the growth of E. coli.

Evaluation of the effects of diethyl ether and methanol extracts of carpet anemone (Sarcophyton spp.) and starfish (Pentaceraster spp.) on E. coli and Bacillus subtilis bacteria
Marine environment is the main source of natural bioactive products whose chemical-structural properties are not similar with other natural products of plants and other inland organisms. The present study was carried out to evaluate antibiotic properties of diethyl ether and methanol extracts of two marine species including starfish and carpet anemone. The samples of starfish and carpet anemone...

It has been shown that these nanoparticles have antibacterial and antifungal properties. Different studied have been shown that nanoparticles may have important role in medicine. For example, it has been shown to have inhibitory effects on the treatment of ...
متن کاملAntibacterial Effects of Monolaurin, Sorbic Acid and Potassium Sorbate on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli
Background: Food borne pathogens are of the main concerns of food producers and consumers and Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus create a lot of problems worldwide. The aim of this study was to evaluate antibacterial effects of monolaurin, sorbic acid and potassium sorbate on S. aureus and E. coli at different pH values and NaCl concentrations. Methods: Micro-well dilution assay was us...
متن کاملThe Inhibitory Effects of Static Magnetic Field on Escherichia coli from two Different Sources at Short Exposure Time
This study was intended to investigate the effectiveness of static magnetic field on the growth of Escherichia coli (E. coli) provided from two sources, the urine samples of patients with urinary tract infections and the reference strain E. coli ATCC 25922. Bacterial samples in Nutrient Broth were subjected to a range of magnetic intensities (2, 4, 6, 9, 14, 16, 18, and 20 mT) at various exposu...
متن کاملEffects of dietary Shirazi thyme (Zataria multiflora Boiss) and vitamin E on growth and biochemical parameters in common carp (Cyprinus carpio)
Using of phytobiotics as fish feed additives have been interestingly increased during the recent decade. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the effect of individual and combined level of thyme and vitamin E in common carp. Juveniles were separately fed by four distinct diets including control (commercial diet without any additive), supplemented with 1% ground Shirazi thyme, supplement...
